HistoryOne hundred and fifty five years ago, our great, great grandfather, John Rex Taylor, began hauling books up and down the Ohio River’s banks on a low, heavy, side-less, horse drawn cart. From those early days delivering the written word for the American Book Company to present day innovations, the Taylor family has adjusted to changing markets with marked success, led by some basic American and family values and principles. First among these, is: Be a good steward of your customer’s products. Chris Taylor (fifth generation Taylor) provides the leadership and vision for Crescent (recently changed from Crescent Park) at a critical phase in American industry, as the global economy expands and supply chain partners are continually reshaped. Chris took over the family business in 1987, in the Cincinnati area, and remade Crescent into a non-union logistics company, with an eye on expanding its business offerings. In the late ‘80’s and long before the concept of “Supply Chain Management” gained credentials as a governing focus of cost effectively delivering goods to the end user, Crescent linked back from its Distribution/Logistics business, to add on Contract Packaging Services. Integrating Crescent’s Logistics expertise with Contract Packaging defined a niche “distribution play,” allowing Kraft, Campbell’s, Church & Dwight, FTD, among others, the advantage of reconfiguring open stock product and promotional products/displays into store specific promotions, just prior to marketplace delivery.
In late 2004, again, reaching back along the continuum, Crescent added another critical segment to its External Supply offering. Made up of top tier display and packaging professionals, who recognized the importance of linking with the Logistics element or “back end” of the supply chain, the Promotional Services group was formed. Crescent now offers in-house promotional display and packaging design (both structural and graphic), along with material selection and sourcing, an inventive, online project management tool (due March 2006) and short-run production capabilities. Pulling Promotional Services and Contract Packaging through the supply chain or supply network to the Logistics phase or “last stop before retail or consumer direct” has proven a distinctive advantage for our major CPG clients, in timely and cost effective delivery of their products. While the combination of Crescent’s three product segments gives our clients intuitive positioning from their External Supply Partner, efficiencies are still gained by some clients who use just one or two of our services. Hence, Promotional Services, Contract Packaging, and/or Integrated Logistics can be leveraged independently, or together, depending on the client's supply strategies or practices. We call this our “Enhanced Full Service Solutions” program. As is tradition with the Taylor’s and Crescent, we strongly believe in our people. We strive to hire the best and invest in them with proper training and a reward system for superior performance. Our facilities are exceptionally clean and well organized, creating a positive, professional workplace, which has earned us many satisfied clients over the years. Our purpose as an organization is to “enhance the value of our customer’s products in the marketplace.” As we’ve adjusted our support offerings through the years, this purpose has remained steadfast. We are positioned, today, to help our clients succeed in the new global economy, while building a highly motivated and committed team to service our clients needs today and tomorrow. Thank you for visiting us and we invite you to contact us. Chris Taylor ![]() |
